Dr. Didem Özgür:

Dr. Özgür is the module coordinator of the project. Dr.Özgür graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Law in 2001. Dr.Özgür received her LLM degree from European Union Law Department in European Community Institute in Marmara University, Istanbul in 2003. Dr. Özgür received her PhD degree from European Union Studies Programme, European Union Department in Social Science Institute in Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir in 2011. Her PhD thesis name was ‘Protection of Geographical Indications: Legal Framework in European Union Law and Turkish Law Practice’. Dr.Didem Özgür is working as a lecturer in European Union Centre Research Office at Istanbul Technical University since 2005. Dr.Özgür has many national and international publications regarding geographical indications. 

Dr.Özgür was visiting scholar at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London to coordinate a project called “Protection of Traditional Speciality Guaranteed in Turkey”  funded by British Council Newton Fund: Researcher Links Travel Grant from April 2016 to August 2016. The aim of the project is to prepare a model law about the protection of traditional speciality guaranteed in Turkey with the supervision of Dr. Gail Elizabeth Evans and Prof. Spyros Maniatis since there is not a special regulation about traditional speciality guaranteed in Turkey

Dr. Özgür is the president of law committee of, Local Products and Geographical Indications Research Network in Turkey since 2012. Dr. Özgür’s research areas are EU Law, Intellectual Property Law, Geographical Indications, and European Union Projects.
